Online resource for the Chaetomium thermophilum genome

Chaetomium thermophilum

Chaetomium thermophilum is a thermophilic fungus of the phylum Ascomycota, living in temperatures upto 600C. Availability of complete genome sequences of several mesophilic fungi that are closely related to C. thermophilum makes it an ideal candidate to perform comparative analysis with an emphasis to thermophilic adaptation. We have sequenced the complete nuclear and mitochondrial genomes of C. thermophilum using Roche 454 sequencing technology. The nuclear genome is estimated to be 28.3Mbp long with 7227 open reading frames, and the mitochondrial genome is 127kbp long with 15 protein coding genes.
